HRH Prince Samdech Krom Preah Akkak Mahassena Norodom Phanuvong (1871-1934) was the son of HM King Norodom with his Favourite wife, Khun Preah Mer Moneang Socheat Bopha Nuon, famous as “Khun Than”.
He married in 1921 Princess Sisowath Bophasy (1901-1957). Their only child, Prince Norodom Monissara (1922-1975) was my grandfather on my Mother’s side.
He was named Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior and Cults under his first cousin’s reign, HM King Sisowath Monivong.
Here is the article published in French Newspaper “L’Express du Midi” quoting the decree of nomination of Prince Phanuvong to the dignity of “Commandeur de la Légion d’Honneur” on 9th August 1927.
